American Craft Council’s Online Pop

A national nonprofit organization, the American Craft Council is dedicated to educating and inspiring crafters, collectors, and artists nationwide about the artistry of craft in its multitude of expressions. One of the organization’s programs is an online artists directory, providing access to more than 250 makers across the country. Explore by region or medium—with one-of-kind, hand-crafted objects from lighting to ceramics, textiles to furniture, and glass works to wood-crafted home decor.

The Council has also started producing online Pop-Up Marketplaces through its directory. The next one starts Monday, Aug. 7, with members-only early access, and runs through Aug. 20. Shop craft items by makers from around the U.S., including Ana Cavalcanti’s delicately enticing ceramics, Charissa Brock’s ethereal bamboo wall sculptures, or Independent Ironware’s heritage-made carbon steel pots and pans.

Wood spoons from Scott Wynn Atelier bear the simplicity of the best modern design, while Sally Prangley’s deceptively delicate wire baskets—with paper and vintage buttons—enliven any table or shelf. Textile artist Lenna Keshishian, owner of Lénna: Interior Décor, creates baskets, table linens, wall decor, lighting, and sculptures with her fine eye. In his hand-forged metal art (lamps, vases, and letter openers), Ken Sugimoto mixes metals in sinuous shapes to create a delicate balance of art and functionality.
